What you should to do is find some time to enjoy the experience and below are a few aftercare tips to let you keep that relaxed feeling for the rest of the day and beyond.

Following your massage you should head straight home and jump in a nice warm bath to sooth the muscles after they have thoroughly massaged. Add relaxing oils and Epsom salts to relax your muscles even more, and generally make it a more luxurious event.

In the 24 hours following your massage you should drink a great deal of water. You need to rehydrate your body after a quality massage like the ones we offer at Massage on the Go; this is because massage promotes movement within the lymphatic glands and by drinking water you will help to move the toxins in your body through your kidneys and out of the body for good. Remember drinking water is exactly that, coffee, tea, soft drinks and juices do not count! Just good quality tap or mineral water.

Be aware of how your body reacts to the massage. You may feel a slight soreness or be incredibly tired following your massage. This is partly due to a massage almost being a way of passively exercising. If you are suffering any soreness then apply some soothing oils to help calm the affected area, and if you happen to be incredibly relaxed, then enjoy the experience and make the most of that calm feeling you have obtained.

Take a nap. You are likely to feel tired after a massage and this is completely normal. Find somewhere quiet and recuperate from your massage – this is the time to recover and enjoy the experience that little bit longer. Make some time for yourself after your massage; don’t just head back to studies or work. Listen to what your mind and body is telling you and allow yourself to recover.
